Weather Brief:  Issued 1:30 pm EST Tue Feb 21 2017

Concerning:  Showers and Thunderstorms Wednesday and Wednesday Night

Showers will be likely along with a chance of thunderstorms Wednesday and Wednesday Nig

ht across the Florida Keys and adjacent coastal waters.  The weather is expected to initially evolve as a line of showers and thunderstorms slowly crossing the Keys from west to east beginning in the Lower Keys near or shortly after sunrise Wednesday, and exiting the Upper Keys in the mid to late afternoon hours.  Additional showers and scattered thunderstorms are expected to follow periodically after the line passes, and continue Wednesday night.  These following showers and thunderstorms are expected to be less organized with lesser direct impacts than the line passing through the daytime hours Wednesday.

No severe thunderstorms (damaging winds, etc.) are expected.  However, isolated thunderstorms along the line daytime Wednesday may briefly produce wind gusts to near 45 mph, along with dangerous lightning strikes.  Sustained winds outside of any showers and thunderstorms are expected to remain 20 mph or less.

Heavy downpours along the line of showers and thunderstorms as well as additional showers Wednesday may produce general rainfall averaging near 1 inch, with isolated higher amounts.  These amounts may produce brief ponding of water on poor-drainage streets during the times of downpours.  As the tide cycle is low, tides are not expected to affect the drainage.

Summarizing, no significant impacts are expected in terms of wind or rainfall, but the weather will be inclement considering it's "dry season."

This is the only general briefing planned concerning weather on Wednesday and Wednesday night, unless the forecast changes significantly resulting in greater impacts.
