Wednesday, September 13, 2017 Thank you, Michael Leemhuis David Ritz
It is strange to sit at the Club without air conditioning, nor restroom facilities and really no sign of any normalcy, and then realize that a little over a week ago the Club was excited to send out two annual fall mailings. The first is the 2017-2018 Calendar, and the second is our all-important and Member favorite, the Taste Brochure. Soon they will be arriving in your mail and we wanted to acknowledge the slightly awkward timing.
Both of these brochures are filled with fond memories of seasons gone by and the promise of future enjoyment for all of our Member families. We are committed to keeping the season as full and vibrant as the pages detail. We will evaluate each and every event as we move through this recovery process. We have to hold in-depth inspections of all facilities before we can provide timelines on restoring Club services. Irma’s visit may require some adjustments to our schedule and plans but we will ensure you are kept informed of any changes. Our goal is to again deliver a wonderful season of Club and community events.
Right now we are seeing a number of satellite images of the Club and the surrounding Monroe County area. While road conditions at the Club are starting to improve please know that the view from above can be a bit deceiving. Many large trees that look like they are fine in a satellite photograph are in fact lying on their side.
Tomorrow we will set up a page on the Club’s website where we can share the latest pictures on the recovery progress. We will also continue our joint Club and ORCA morning update related to services and operations.
Meanwhile ORCA continues to survey the neighborhoods and individual homes for outward signs of damage. As the roads continue to clear, they are delving further into the community. Neighborhood information is now posted on ORCA’s website. Click here to view today's updates.
Correction: In our morning update we incorrectly stated the curfew times for Monroe County. The curfew is in effect from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., dusk to dawn, and is being strictly enforced.
Each day we are taking the steps to restore and recover. It is slow, it is tedious and it is hot. However, it is the spirit of our associates, our members and the promise of our unique way of life that give us the strength to push forward.
